Clarksville Community School Corporation is committed to providing students with a safe and secure digital learning environment. In accordance with Indiana House Enrolled Act 1004 (PL 74-2026) and the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), the district maintains internet filtering on all district-issued student devices.
Our Board-approved Internet Acceptable Use Policy requires that content filtering block access to inappropriate content and visual depictions that are obscene, pornographic, or are harmful to minors. To meet these requirements, the district uses Lightspeed Filter™, a comprehensive internet filtering and online safety solution.
How Lightspeed Filter Protects Students
Lightspeed Filter helps provide a safe online learning experience by:
- Blocking access to websites and content that are inappropriate or prohibited by law.
- Applying filtering policies based on the student, device, and time of day.
- Protecting students whether they are using their district-issued device at school or away from school.
- Providing district administrators with activity reports that help ensure compliance with our internet safety program and support student safety.
The district’s internet filtering policies are designed to support learning while helping protect students from harmful or inappropriate online content.
Lightspeed Parent Portal
The Lightspeed Parent Portal gives parents and guardians greater visibility into how their students use their district-issued devices at home and provides optional tools to help manage internet access during after-school hours.
Through the Parent Portal, parents and guardians can:
- View recent web activity on their student’s district-issued device.
- Receive weekly email summaries of their student’s internet activity.
- See which websites were allowed or blocked by the district’s internet filter.
- Pause internet access on the district-issued device for a period of time, such as one hour, three hours, or overnight.
- Create recurring internet access schedules, such as limiting internet use during bedtime or other family-selected times.
- Block access to specific websites during after-school hours.
- Manage access to certain website categories, such as YouTube or social media, if those options have been enabled by the district.

Important Information
The Parent Portal allows families to help manage internet access on district-issued devices during the after-school hours established by the district. During the school day, Clarksville Community School Corporation’s internet filtering and security policies remain in effect and cannot be changed by parents or guardians.
The Parent Portal is intended to complement the district’s internet safety program by giving families additional tools to encourage responsible technology use at home while ensuring students continue to have access to the online resources they need for learning.
