Mindy Dablow | Principal

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! Our staff has worked very hard to prepare for another great year with our students and families at CES! I can’t believe that this year marks my 23nd year as an educator! After graduating from Hanover College, I spent the first five years of my career in Indianapolis working in Metropolitan School District of Perry Township as 1st grade and Reading Recovery Teacher, providing extra reading intervention support for 1st grade students struggling in reading. After finishing my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Indianapolis, I had the opportunity to spend a year at Purdue University to receive specialized training in Early Literacy in order to become a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader back in Indianapolis. I spent the next five years training teachers in six districts in the Reading Recovery program.

I also provided professional development in the area of literacy for district teachers and administrators and presented on early literacy strategies at district, state, and national conferences.

I came to Clarksville Community Schools in 2013 when I was hired as the TAP Master Teacher at CES. I coordinated our school’s professional development model and our teacher evaluations. I then became the CES Principal, and this is my 4th school year in this role. I LOVE my job as CES Principal and feel fortunate to work with such wonderful students, staff, and families every day!

My husband John and I have three children, Anna (14), Caroline (12), and Jack (6). My husband is a PE Teacher and the Varsity Football Coach at Silver Creek High School, so my children go to school at Silver Creek with him. My kids definitely keep me very busy with all of their after school activities!

At CES, we expect our students to show REACH, which stands for Respect, Empathy, Attitude, Cooperation, and Honesty. Each month, our school counselor, Ms. Lilly, will be teaching classroom lessons focused on one of these positive character traits. I will be making daily announcements with a student tip for how to show these character traits at school. We are also dividing all of our students into “CES Families” that will meet once per month to participate in a character education lesson focused on one of the characteristics of REACH. Additionally, students will earn “Clark Coins” for showing REACH. At the end of the month, students with 10 or more Clark Coins (K-2) or 15 or more Clark Coins (3rd-4th) will have the opportunity to attend a school wide “Clark Coin Party”. Students will be rewarded with fun activities at these parties to continue to encourage them to show REACH both at CES and at home! Teachers will also choose one student per month as the “Explorer of the Month” for doing an excellent job of demonstrating the character trait of the month. The Explorers of the Month will be recognized in a school wide assembly, receive a special certificate, have their pictures displayed in the hallway, and participate in a special Explorer of the Month Breakfast with parents, which is something new we are doing this year!

We also hold our students to high academic standards as well. I’m proud to share that last year, 93% of our 3rd grade students passed the state IREAD3 test! Through our Title One program, we are able to offer our students extra academic support as well as enrichment to ensure that every student can reach his/her full potential!

Thank you for giving us the privilege of educating your children! We truly love the work that we have the opportunity to do with your children on a daily basis. If you should have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to leave a message for your child’s teacher. Emailing your child’s teacher is a fast and easy way to contact us as well! Strong communication between home and school is crucial in order to provide the best quality education for each student!

We are looking forward to another wonderful school year at CES!
